Use format-matched Engaged views, not the count on your channel page. On 24 August 2026 YouTube changed the public counter to start at the first frame without changing YPP earnings or eligibility. Find Engaged views in YouTube Studio and keep the channel, format, and date range matched. For long-form, calculate a custom planning rate from one matched Studio period: estimated ad revenue ÷ Engaged views × 1,000. This is a planning input, not YouTube’s universal official RPM denominator. Public channel data cannot supply this private Studio input, so this calculator does not auto-fill the Engaged views field from a channel lookup.
The input rate is not fixed. It moves with audience country, category, viewer device, and season, which is why the output is a band rather than a payout promise. For long-form, calculate a custom planning rate from one matched Studio period: estimated ad revenue ÷ Engaged views × 1,000. This is a planning input, not YouTube’s universal official RPM denominator. Ad revenue also assumes the channel is already in the YouTube Partner Program; sponsorships, memberships, and affiliate income are not counted here. Since 24 August 2026, public view totals from before and after the change use different definitions, so year-on-year comparisons only hold when both sides use Engaged views.
Quick reference — estimated monthly ad revenue at the illustrative defaults ($3.50 custom long-form planning rate and $0.10 Studio Shorts RPM), shown as the same low-to-high band the calculator uses:
| Daily Engaged views | Long-form / month | Shorts / month |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $75 – $150 | $2 – $4 |
| 10,000 | $750 – $1,500 | $21 – $43 |
| 100,000 | $7,500 – $14,900 | $210 – $430 |
| 1,000,000 | $74,500 – $149,000 | $2,100 – $4,300 |
