The best YouTube competitor analysis tools
Viewstats — Video performance and competitor monitoring
Choose Viewstats when a large view count needs context. Its free video page shows the curve since publication, typical performance and an estimated rank against uploads at the same age. This helps you avoid comparing a five-day-old upload with a two-year-old hit.
Free public pages suit occasional checks. For ongoing monitoring, the paid Competitors Tool adds an upload feed, title and thumbnail changes, and channel comparisons.
Free path and pricing: Start with the free channel or video lookup. Pro costs US$49.99/month. Outliers and Thumbnail Search required an upgrade in our free account.

1of10 — Outlier and thumbnail research
1of10 helps you find title and thumbnail references beyond the largest channels in a niche. Its outlier research highlights videos that stand out against a channel’s usual performance.
Our free search showed five readable results, with the date filter locked. That makes Free useful for inspiration; recent breakout research may require the larger result set and filtering of a paid plan.
Free path and pricing: Sign in to the 1of10 Free plan, with no card needed. It lists five results per search type plus 60 AI credits/month. Basic is US$19/month or US$180/year. Research searches and AI creation use different limits.
vidIQ — Competitor research alongside keyword planning
vidIQ suits creators who want competitor comparisons and top-video research alongside keyword planning. AI Coach can help interpret selected references: our two-channel comparison highlighted differences in title framing, content mix and runtime.
The public research worked in an existing Free account without connecting a channel. Connect your own channel separately for personalized advice. Our Kabo and vidIQ comparison covers their broader workflow differences.
Free path and pricing: A vidIQ Free account includes 150 AI credits/month. Our Deep request displayed a 25-credit cost. US single-channel Boost is US$19/month or US$199/year; local prices can vary.

Kabo — Conversational research and content development
Choose Kabo when the deliverable is a content brief. Its AI Agent supports public account and video analysis, then lets you question the findings, develop original directions and write in the same conversation.
In our two-channel comparison, it identified differences with cited public metadata and separated observations from interpretations. Use follow-up questions to explore a promising angle before turning it into a script.
Free path and pricing: Sign in for Free daily credits. Public competitor research does not require a channel connection; research and revisions depend on available allowances. Pro is US$7.99/month.

Compare two channels before choosing your next idea
Match the audience and format. Find comparable YouTube channels, then separate tutorials from interviews, promotions and community updates. Compare a shared date window or the same period after publication; the latest ten uploads can span very different lengths of time.
Compare the viewer’s problem. Grant Bakes’ Same-Day Sourdough offers help with a time constraint. The Bread Code’s Overhydration offers a technical diagnosis. Those are two different promises to study, without assuming either title caused more views.
Turn the difference into a brief. For a beginner baking lesson, define one decision to explain, the demonstration and a realistic schedule. Develop your own video idea around that problem instead of copying either title.
What public competitor data can tell you
Public titles, dates, views and channel trends can guide further research. They do not reveal a competitor’s private CTR, retention or audience reports. Metadata analysis also does not establish what happened in the footage. Use your own authorized YouTube Studio data to evaluate results after publishing.

Social Blade — Channel growth context
Social Blade provides channel-level context through public subscriber and view trends. Use it to decide which accounts deserve closer attention, then inspect their uploads to investigate a change.
History and chart detail matter more than headline totals for ongoing monitoring. The pricing page gives conflicting free-history limits, so check the available dates on the channel you need. Our free YouTube analytics guide covers other starting points.
Free path and pricing: Start with public channel statistics. Personal subscriptions begin with Bronze at US$5.99/month in our October 21 check, or US$59.99/year verified October 22. Confirm the history you need before subscribing.
