Trend and topic research
Kabo lets you investigate a topic through conversation, then narrow the question, compare examples and develop an angle. It is our preference when you want to move from finding references to understanding them and writing a brief.
TubeBuddy offers Content Outliers Beta with All YouTube, niche and channel views for discovering unusually strong videos. This is a focused route for studying examples before ideation. Our newly connected channel still showed a learning-state message with Last 30 days selected; that limited our result test, rather than establishing that the feature is unavailable to other accounts.

YouTube keyword research and optimization
Kabo returned five keyword candidates and intent guidance for “beginner sourdough bread,” without numerical volume or difficulty estimates. For our synthetic nine-minute video brief, it produced three titles, a description, five tags and a thumbnail concept. Two runs returned 128- and 135-word descriptions. That is useful SEO drafting; it does not prove higher rankings.
TubeBuddy returned an unweighted score of 32/100 (Fair), an estimated 830 monthly searches and three visible related terms. These are its modeled indicators, not verified US demand; weighted scoring required Pro. Official documentation describes SEO Studio as a keyword-guided workflow for optimizing titles, descriptions and tags. Our Starter path required Pro before editing; its guided optimization capabilities are documented, while paid draft quality remains untested.

Channel analysis
Kabo analyzed GrantBakes, explained content patterns and proposed three next ideas. It also exceeded our requested sample of at most 20 recent uploads: the answer used 100 videos and excluded 26 possible Shorts by duration. Its broader baseline needs review before you act on the recommendations.
TubeBuddy Channelytics showed the same channel with 16.8M lifetime views, 213 videos and 675K views over the last 30 days at capture. Its published feature matrix also includes Competitor Scorecard and competitor upload alerts; Scorecard required Legend in our account. Public totals and competitor reports are a different workflow from Kabo’s written interpretation. For more options, see our free YouTube analytics tools.

A tested task: from three references to a Short
The task: research beginner sourdough videos, choose an original angle and turn it into a Short. In our October 14 run, we asked for three public examples from different channels, their title/opening angles and three new ideas. We then asked Kabo to develop idea 3 into a 45-second script with a hook, three visual beats, voiceover and a closing line.
Kabo returned references from Serena Neel, Grant Bakes and Keep it Sweet Kitchen, separating public title/description observations from interpretation. We continued with “Why Your First Loaf Is Flat: Diagnose It by Sight.” The draft opened on a flat loaf beside a taller one, then covered starter readiness, fermentation clues and shaping/baking setup. It ended: “Change one variable next bake—and write down what happened.”
The useful result: a research-backed starting angle and a draft shooting sequence in the same conversation. The proposed 45-second timing still needs a read-through, and baking advice needs recipe verification. That continuity is why we recommend Kabo for content planning.
TubeBuddy returned four Next Ideas and a Signal Report in its separate test. Those are useful idea-selection inputs; they were not the same full writing brief, so this is not a head-to-head script-quality result. Choose Kabo when your next step is to discuss the evidence and draft the video, rather than stop at recommendations.

Thumbnail and metadata testing
TubeBuddy documents A/B tests for thumbnails and metadata, with a chosen video, alternative packaging and test duration. It suits creators comparing variations on published work. Our account required Legend before test creation, so the workflow description is based on official documentation; we did not run a live experiment.
Kabo can help develop titles, hooks and thumbnail concepts to test. It does not manage live YouTube A/B experiments. Use its drafts as hypotheses for a separate testing tool, and evaluate results on your own channel.
Platforms and ways to work
Kabo offers a browser agent, creator integrations for Claude Code and Codex, and mobile apps for pre-publish feedback. Public research spans YouTube, Instagram and TikTok; evidence and capabilities differ by surface.
TubeBuddy centers its web workspace and extension on YouTube. Choose the environment that fits your routine: specialist controls around YouTube, or an agent you can ask to research, analyze and write.
Free access and pricing
Kabo has a free plan with daily credits, plus paid Pro and Ultra plans with more credits each day; see its pricing page for current prices. We did not purchase a plan.
TubeBuddy listed Pro at $15/month and Legend at $32.99/month when rechecked on October 15. Annual billing displayed monthly equivalents of $12 and $26.39. Our Starter access reached Pro gates for weighted keywords and SEO Studio; creating an A/B test required Legend in the earlier check. We did not run a paid test.
Which should you choose?
Kabo is our recommendation if you want research, analysis and an editable draft in an easy conversation. The strongest evidence here is the work it returned: metadata, content suggestions and a script you can refine. Check its sources and sampling rather than treating the answer as settled.
TubeBuddy is a strong fit for dedicated YouTube keyword indicators and extension-based reports. Keep it alongside Kabo if those controls are part of your routine.

Kabo vs TubeBuddy FAQ
Can Kabo analyze my YouTube channel?
Yes. Kabo can analyze channel activity, public performance, content patterns and the channel’s own baseline. Private metrics require data you supply or a supported connection.
Can Kabo replace TubeBuddy?
For research, channel analysis, ideas and writing, Kabo can be your main workspace. TubeBuddy remains useful for its dedicated keyword tools and live A/B testing.
Does TubeBuddy offer AI video ideas?
Yes. Next Ideas generated a set of four recommendations in our test, with a Signal Report explaining the first idea. Access depends on the account and plan.
Can Kabo help with YouTube SEO?
Yes. In our shared-video-brief test, Kabo produced three titles, a description and five tags. Its keyword answer did not return numerical search-volume or difficulty estimates. TubeBuddy supplied keyword indicators, but our account reached a Pro gate before SEO Studio editing.
Can I use both products?
Yes. Use Kabo to investigate and develop the creative direction, and TubeBuddy where its YouTube-specific tools fit your workflow.
Sources and method
Kabo publishes this comparison. On October 14–15, 2026, we tested the same seed, “beginner sourdough bread,” the GrantBakes channel and one public tutorial in both products. Kabo received full prompts in Regular mode; TubeBuddy received the matching inputs its controls accepted. SEO Studio blocked the full video brief before editing, so paid output quality was not tested. Earlier Next Ideas and A/B access checks are identified separately. We retained original outputs and screenshots; keyword scores are proprietary estimates, and our recommendations are editorial judgments.
