YPP ACTIVITY · 2027 RULE

See whether your channel stays active—and how long you have to recover

This checker is for channels already in the YouTube Partner Program. Enter the qualified figures shown in YouTube Studio to check the three ways to stay active from February 1, 2027. If YouTube has given you a recovery deadline, the checker also counts the calendar days left.

01

Copy the exact Studio figures

Use qualified watch hours and qualified Shorts views from YouTube Studio, not public channel totals or total Analytics watch time.

02

Clear any one activity path

You need 1,000 watch hours, 1 million Shorts views, or the upload route. The upload route means 2 long-form videos OR 5 Shorts—not both.

03

Use YouTube's deadline

If Studio has opened a recovery window, enter the exact deadline it shows. The checker counts the days left without guessing when YouTube started the window.

What counts as an active YPP channel from February 1, 2027?

A channel meets the published activity rule by clearing any one of these three routes. The periods are rolling windows, so older hours, views, and uploads fall out as each day passes.

YouTube's published YPP activity routes from February 1, 2027
RouteThresholdRolling window
Watch hours1,000 qualified watch hours365 days
Shorts views1,000,000 qualified Shorts views90 days
Uploads2 long-form videos OR 5 Shorts90 days

Thresholds come from YouTube's Updated channel activity requirements. Read the official rule (checked 2026-08-20).

What does YouTube's 90-day recovery window actually cover?

YouTube says a channel below the activity requirements gets an extended 90-day window. Its separate Restore active status section explicitly names only two recovery targets: 1,000 qualified watch hours in 365 days or 1 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days. It does not say whether uploads alone restore a channel after an inactivity notice, so an upload-only recovery result must be confirmed in Studio.

Do existing YPP channels need 8,000 watch hours every year?

No. From February 1, 2027, 8,000 qualified watch hours is part of the entry threshold for new applicants seeking ad and YouTube Premium revenue. It is not the maintenance target used here. This checker applies the separate 1,000-hour activity threshold for channels already in YPP.

Why can YPP activity totals fall even while a channel grows?

The 365-day and 90-day periods move forward every day. Hours, views, and uploads earned at the start of the old window eventually drop out of the new one, so lifetime totals can rise while the qualifying rolling total falls. Recheck with fresh Studio figures instead of treating one result as permanent.

Frequently asked questions

When do the new YPP activity requirements begin?

February 1, 2027. Before then, YouTube may turn off monetization for channels that have gone six months or more without uploading a video or posting, but the new 1,000-hour, 1-million-view, and upload thresholds are not yet in force.

Do I need 8,000 watch hours every year to stay in YPP?

No. The 8,000-hour figure is part of the new application threshold for creators seeking ad and YouTube Premium revenue from February 1, 2027. The separate activity threshold for existing YPP channels is 1,000 qualified watch hours in 365 days.

Do I need 2 long-form videos and 5 Shorts?

No. It is 2 long-form videos OR 5 Shorts within 90 days. YouTube has not said that mixed combinations, such as 1 long-form video plus 3 Shorts, can be prorated.

Can uploading restore my channel during the 90-day window?

YouTube lists uploads as a general way to remain active, but its Restore active status guidance explicitly mentions only 1,000 qualified watch hours or 1 million qualified Shorts views. Until YouTube clarifies that difference, do not rely on uploads alone after receiving a recovery notice.

Where should I get the numbers for this checker?

Use YouTube Studio, preferably the Earn page or the activity figures included in YouTube's notice. Public channel views and total Analytics watch time can include activity that does not qualify for YPP.

Does passing this checker guarantee that I will stay in YPP?

No. This tool applies the published activity rules to the figures you enter. YouTube Studio remains the source of truth, and policy, copyright, or Community Guidelines issues can affect monetization regardless of these numbers.

Is the YouTube YPP Activity Checker free?

Yes—free, unlimited, and no signup. The calculation runs in your browser, and Kabo does not send or store the figures you enter.
