How is this list ranked?
By lifetime view count, highest first. Kabo reads each video's view count straight from YouTube's official Data API once a day and re-sorts the board, so the order here follows the real numbers rather than a number typed in by hand.
Is this the same as the most viewed videos this month?
No, and the difference matters. This board is all-time: videos that have accumulated the most views since the day they were uploaded, some of them a decade ago. The monthly board ranks only videos published in the last 30 days. They share almost no entries.
Where does the list of videos come from?
The membership list is maintained by hand against Wikipedia's public, long-running list of most-viewed YouTube videos, which changes only a few times a year. The numbers on this page do not come from Wikipedia — every view count, title, channel and upload date is read from YouTube's own API by Kabo.
How often does it update?
Once a day. The snapshot date is printed above the table. Positions barely move at this scale — a video near the top gains millions of views a week but so do the ones around it.
Why are so many of them children's songs?
Because of how children watch. A nursery rhyme gets replayed by the same child dozens of times, often on autoplay, and the audience renews itself every few years. Music videos need a far larger one-time audience to reach the same number.
