Walk into the negotiation with a number

Pick your platform, enter followers and engagement rate, and get the reported rate band for accounts your size — plus the same math for the other two platforms, side by side. Bands come from public creator rate surveys; the negotiation is still yours to win.

Per post$100 – $500Engagement multiplier ×1.00

Base is one feed post. Reels typically price 1.2-1.5x a post, a story frame 0.3-0.5x, and a multi-post bundle should be priced per asset, not discounted flat.

How it's calculated: your follower tier's reported band × an engagement multiplier (your ER ÷ the Instagram typical of 2%, capped at ×0.6–×1.8). Bands aggregate public creator rate surveys, which disagree by 2x or more for the same tier — a starting point for your negotiation, not a quote.

Reported rates side by side at typical engagement, per platform's base deliverable:

AudienceInstagramTikTokYouTube
10K$100 – $500$80 – $400$300 – $1,500
100K$500 – $5,000$400 – $2,500$1.5K – $10K
1M$10K – $25K$6K – $15K$20K – $50K

This pricing model expects engagement by followers. Compute the Instagram input with the Instagram engagement rate calculator . For TikTok, the public-profile engagement rate calculator reports interactions by views, which is useful context but is not the same percentage as this input.

01

Pick the platform being priced

Rates aren't portable: a 50k TikTok account and a 50k YouTube channel price a sponsorship differently by an order of magnitude. The calculator switches tiers, typical engagement, and deliverable base when you switch platforms.

02

Enter followers and engagement

The tier sets your band; engagement moves you within it. Use engagement by followers for this pricing model. A rate divided by views measures something different and should not be pasted into this field unchanged.

03

Quote the band, then add the levers

Open with a number inside the band, then price the extras separately: usage rights, exclusivity, extra formats. The levers are where deals grow — folding them into one flat price is how creators undercharge.

What goes into a rate beyond follower count

Follower count sets the opening band. These are what move the final number, and they are where most creators underprice themselves:

Usage rights

If the brand wants to run your content as a paid ad, that is media buying, not a post. It is priced separately, scales with duration and territory, and routinely costs more than the content fee itself.

Exclusivity

Agreeing not to work with competitors for a period removes future income. Short exclusivity is a modest premium; six months in a narrow niche is a significant one.

Deliverable count and format

One video is not a third of three videos. Bundles cost less per unit but more in total, and a video costs more than a static post because it costs you more to make.

Turnaround and revisions

A rush job and an open-ended revision cycle are both real costs. Cap revisions in writing, and charge for speed.

The levers, priced: what each add-on typically costs

The section above names the levers; this table puts the commonly reported numbers on them. Treat them as negotiation anchors from public industry surveys, not fixed prices — every one of them moves with fit and demand.

Reported rate bands by follower tier

Public surveys disagree — for the micro tier they disagree by 10x, so both figures are shown rather than a fake average. The spread between the two is mostly engagement, niche, and whether usage rights were bundled in.

Three negotiation rules that outearn any calculator

The band tells you where to stand; these decide what you walk away with:

Open 20–30% above your minimum

Brands negotiate as standard practice, and a polite counter-offer is expected. Opening at your floor means the only direction is down.

Don't quote before the terms are set

A number given before usage rights, exclusivity, and deliverables are defined anchors the deal low — those items are most of the price. Ask what the campaign needs first; quote after.

Reprice on a schedule, not on a feeling

Review your rates quarterly and raise them 10–20% a year as your audience and results grow. Creators who wait to be asked never are.

How influencer rates differ by platform

The same creator is worth different amounts in different places, because the work and the shelf life differ. Short-form video costs more to produce than a static post and reaches beyond your followers, so it prices higher. A YouTube integration prices highest of all — it is long-lived, searchable, and demands far more production. A Story is the cheapest deliverable because it disappears.

What to send when a brand asks for your rate

Start with a short scope check before you send a firm number. Ask what the brand needs you to make, where it wants to use the work, for how long, and whether exclusivity or extra versions are involved. If the brief is still incomplete, label any range as preliminary and state the assumptions. Once the scope is clear, send the deliverable, fee, included usage, and the terms that would require a new quote. The estimate here is a starting point for that message, not a ceiling.

The rate is set. Now raise what it's based on.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I charge as an influencer?

Start from the reported band for your follower tier on that platform — roughly $100-$500 per Instagram post at 10k-50k followers, $80-$400 per TikTok video, $300-$1,500 per dedicated YouTube video — then adjust for engagement, niche, and rights. The calculator does the first two steps; the last one is your leverage.

How do influencer rates differ by platform?

YouTube prices highest per deliverable (a dedicated video is produced content with long shelf life), Instagram sits in the middle, TikTok per-video rates run lower but production is faster. Same audience size, different economics — which is why this page shows all three side by side instead of pretending one rate travels.

What is a rate card and do I need one?

A one-page menu of your prices per deliverable — post, Reel, video, story, integration. Yes, you need one the moment brands start asking: it anchors the negotiation at your numbers instead of their budget. Use this calculator's bands as the skeleton and add your platform-specific extras.

How much extra should usage rights cost?

Whitelisting or ads usage — the brand running your content as their own ad — routinely doubles a fee, and unlimited-term rights cost more than 30-day windows. It's the most underpriced lever in creator deals: your face keeps selling long after the post. Always a separate line item, never included.

Why does engagement rate change my rate?

Brands buy attention, and engagement is its proxy: a 20k account at 5% reliably beats a 100k account at 0.8% for conversions. The multiplier here is transparent — your ER against the platform's typical, capped so extreme inputs don't leave survey-supported territory.

Should small creators charge at all?

From about 1,000 engaged followers, yes — nano creators win local and niche deals precisely because their audiences act on recommendations. Below 1k the market is mostly product-for-post, which is why this calculator declines to print a dollar figure there rather than invent one.

Is this rate calculator free?

Free, unlimited, no signup, and everything runs in your browser. The bands aggregate public rate surveys that disagree by 2x for the same tier — treat the output as your negotiation floor and ceiling, not a certified appraisal.
